Daydreaming About Denim Under The Blue Sky

af03f5eeab9a861be59c566cd12efebdDenim might make you think of Summer days by the beach or skinny jeans with a white tee. It makes me reminisce to the country days, where I’d always have at least one pair of jeans to wear with my gumboots. The wonderful thing about denim is how versatile it is, that it can be worn through all four seasons. You can layer them on with other clothing or keep it minimal. My first denim clothing was a jacket that was far too big for me when I was 8 years old. However, it was one of those clothing that you’d love wearing nearly everyday.

As someone who can’t quite keep a long term relationship with jeans, there’s something about dungarees and a denim overall dress that I like. It makes me think of Alexa Chung in all her effortless charm, and how carefree it makes you look and feel. I adore this photograph of Margaret from Shine By Three. As the season gets colder, my wardrobe tends to get darker and darker. Adding a bit of denim, makes it a little brighter. Denim is a basic staple item, the way black is one of those wardrobe basics that everyone has at least one item of.

What a Wonderful World

What a beautiful day it is. Auckland is so majestic on a Summer’s day (or should I say Springs day) when the sky is blue and scattered with white clouds and the sun is shining bright. The flower’s are so beautiful in the University, today I opened the door to find a lovely surprise from my lovely friend, Shelley :) A box of muffins (Chocolate Chip, Berry Muffin) from muffin break ( The sweet goodness satisfied my sweet tooth a lot!

Yesterday I went to a café called Ngopi Café (, one of the most creative and cosy cafes I have been to. The customer service was amazing and they made you feel right at home. All your lunch money goes to two charities – the A21 Campaign, working to prevent human trafficking, and Habitat for Humanity, which aims to provide housing for the homeless. I devoured a Chocolate Danish with my lady like eating skills.

The beauty of life is when you wake up in the morning feeling like there is something worth getting up for. It’s also the flowers that you see on the side of the road that you never noticed (may I mention they were bright purple flowers). It reminds me to take a second out of a day to notice the beauty around us that we are often so blind to, when we are caught up in our own world. I will dearly miss the New Zealand beaches, and their wonderful waters and the feeling of sinking your toes into the sand. People are genuinely friendly and laid back in New Zealand and I really notice it more when I’ve been traveling and return home.

Today I showed my friend while eating a hokey pokey Ice cream (aren’t I the biggest sweet tooth!), my drivers licence photo. I’m not too sure why. But the 15 year old Katie barely resembled me at all. How people do change so much in time. I really believe that what we feel in side reflects our outer appearance. Do you ever meet someone for the first time and make a quick judgement based on their appearance? Then, once you get to know them for a while you see them differently? I think our appearance is only temporary because our personality and our heart truly reflects who we are.

Don’t worry be happy :) God wants us to live joyful lives. He knows that everyone will go through tough times, but the important thing is how we get through it and to know that he is right there with us. He loves you more than you can ever imagine and let’s face it, believing is seeing. Faith is indeed the evidence for things which cannot be seen. Faith should come first, because we need to believe in ourselves first. In a fast paced society, many people want proof but before we can make something happen we need to believe in it and have confidence. Positivity.

What a sweet quote

I wrote your name in the sky, but the wind blew it away.
I wrote your name in the sand, but the water washed it away.
I wrote your name in my heart, and forever it will stay.
