Karen Walker x Blunt Umbrellas Collaboration 2017

18300989_1345331452181582_2286631496271381276_nAs we Aucklanders know, the weather can be quite unpredictable at the best of times. One moment the sun is shining and the sky is a beautiful blue, and the next moment it’s pouring down with showers and the clouds seem to fly by very fast. Throughout the last 5 years I have been through at least a dozen umbrellas. My third umbrella this year said goodbye today, before going inside out as the blustery wind blew heavily, it was quite a sight! I’d seen these wonderful Blunt umbrellas for quite a while, read several reviews and watched the videos online to see the level of wind resistance. It seemed like the right time to invest in one to resolve my umbrella dilemma.

There’s a wide range of colours to choose from blue, pink, red, orange, green and many more, with various different sizes from XS Metro, Blunt Lite, Blunt Classic, Blunt XL and more. I was considering getting the yellow one, as it’s a bright sunshiney colour on a rainy day, but I noticed that there was a Limited Edition Karen Walker design that was just absolutely lovely. It was sold out when I looked online, and so I went into the Karen Walker store in Britomart to make the purchase. It felt like such a relief to finally get an umbrella that won’t let me down, as you can probably tell as I’ve dedicated a post on umbrellas!

“There’s something about sheltering under a Blunt umbrella that gives a gorgeous sense of sanctuary. You’re in your own private world, your own dome, light and sound take on a different attitude and you feel ever so slightly removed and cocooned. It’s kind of heavenly.” – Karen Walker

The Blunt website says: Karen Walker is NZ’s top fashion designer well-known for her chic-meets-eccentric handwriting and her love of print and colour. This season Blunt Umbrellas has collaborated with Karen Walker to bring you another Limied Edition. The much-coveted Bird print from Karen Walker’s new season collection ‘Babou’s Revenge’. They are sold in the size XS Metro, and are designed in New Zealand. Featuring a whimsical bird print, that look like droplets of giant raindrops in the distance. Blunt Umbrellas are known to be one of the strongest umbrellas and can easily fold up. However, I find that they are at a size that’s more suitable for fitting in a medium-large bag.

Their collaboration from last year was a huge success, which has led to the release of a second collection. Featuring the bird print from Karen Walker’s new season collection, ‘Babou’s Revenge’. They are sturdy and stylish to brighten up the day and combine the elements of style and functionality. We’ve all experienced the feeling of the umbrella going inside out and sadly disposing it into the bin, wondering if this will be the endless cycle of purchasing a new umbrella one after another. The size is suitable for a single person, and can squeeze two people. If you have a Blunt Umbrella, what are your thoughts and your experience with them?

May Monthly Wrap Up: Events, Life And Cats

chineseeye.jpg

This month has been wonderful, even when the wind was wild and the nights were chilly. The start of the month was the launch of Chinese Eye Magazine, and it was an amazing event. I went with my lovely friend Sabina. The goodie bag had a rose inside each one that it almost felt like Valentine’s day. There were delicious dumplings cooked by House of Dumplings and stylish decor from Matisse.

Miss FQ had an event to celebrate the launch of Juicy Couture’s new Viva La Juicy Sucré Fragrance. The scent is quite sweet and reminds me of lollies and cupcakes. The gift bags included one bottle of the new fragrance and an edition of Miss FQ. There was a dessert ATM where cupcakes came out. They were so delicious and sweet – perfect for a sweet tooth!

The Cat Lounge is the first cat cafe in New Zealand and my second cat cafe experience. The black cat had an instant fondness for Mr Penguin, and some were sleeping peacefully while others were wondering around. There’s something mysterious about cats, but they do love to lie in the patches where the sun warms up the ground. There was a beautiful large Maine Coon and a sleek grey and white cat, otherwise they were all little darlings.

May meant turning 21 and reflecting on how much I’ve grown as a person, and how much there’s still to learn. It meant saying goodbye to long distance and embracing the beautiful journey ahead. Uni has been great this year, and the beautiful view from work makes Winter look like Spring. Sometimes the little Sparrows will visit and sit on a branch. Lunch breaks were filled with reading Eye magazine, and early mornings meant listening to music to wake me up.

Cherish each moment, be grateful for everything and enjoy the memories.

Stella McCartney Fall Collection 2017

SMC_A17_LB_NY-EVENT_LR_1The Stella McCartney Fall collection for 2017 is filled with eclectic energy with bold explosions of colour and unexpected detailing. I love the slight masculine cut in the long coats and the oversized bags. Featuring my favourite looks, however, this season includes fringes, hot pink, red and eveningwear dresses. The gowns have geometric proportions and a lengthier fringe. The style is transformed from the striking red into a midnight feeling with dark tones and panels of bolder blue.SMC_A17_LB_NY-EVENT_LR_3SMC_A17_LB_NY-EVENT_LR_6SMC_A17_LB_NY-EVENT_LR_14SMC_A17_LB_NY-EVENT_LR_15SMC_A17_LB_NY-EVENT_LR_25SMC_A17_LB_NY-EVENT_LR_30All images from original website

Favourite Looks At The Met Gala 2017 Red Carpet

Lily-Rose-DEPP_Costume-Institute-Benefit-Gala-at-the-Metropolitan-Museum-of-Art_May-1st-2017_2-2The Theme for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute exhibition and 2017 Met Gala, was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons. The show will be the first monograph show at the museum to focus on a living designer since its Yves Saint Laurent exhibit in 1983. My favourite look was Lily-Rose Depp in Chanel. She looks radiant, graceful and just lovely in the pink gown. The second favourite would be Liu Wen in a Off-White dress with gorgeous details.Liu-Wen.jpgtaylor-hill-en-carolina-herrera-au-met-ball.jpg1020.jpg1020 (1).jpg1020 (2).jpg1020 (7).jpg1020 (8).jpgPhotos from Vogue.co.uk | Popsugar | Metro
