I grew up in the country side, where most days I went to school without wearing a bra. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to, but it was simply because some days I wore my sports bra and some days I didn’t. Most days I wear a camisole underneath and I go about my day. As someone with more of a flat chest, I embrace myself the way I am, because I can’t imagine changing it. I don’t believe that wearing a bra or having a fuller chest defines a women’s femininity. A bra is for support, cover and comfort, for example if you are exercising or wearing clothes. Many of us talk about how we should accept all kinds of body shapes, and it’s so true. Everyone should be able to feel comfortable in their own skin.
The main reason I don’t wear a bra is comfort. As I have quite a small chest, it feels quite tight and wrapped around my chest. The main reasons I would wear one is if I am exercising or if I can’t get away with it. For example, when I used to work at cafes, I would definitely wear one, because I want to be able to cover my body, without anyone seeing anything. Personally, I don’t mind wearing clothes and looking quite flat chested, because I don’t think it matters. Whether you wear one or not, it doesn’t matter. It’s a personal choice, just as the days we choose to wear makeup or go natural.
