Sit back and relax: The Pleasure of Reading

e6f266e8eae42ab200caef1819343a34.jpgIt probably comes as no surprise that I really love to read. It all began when I was younger when I saw how much my sister read. My whole family were reading the Harry Potter series and I was 8 at the time. At the time we were in a traffic jam when everyone was talking about what happens in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I was literally on the edge of my seat dying to know, but I wasn’t allowed to read them as I was too young. So I stuck to my picture filled books and read about cats that had magic powers and dragon’s breathing fire. It used to be a weekly ritual to go to the local library and sit there for an hour or two reading and finding books to read. The feeling of being in a library always stays close to my heart. I feel filled with happiness when I’m lucky to meet others who love to read similar books or have an exciting tale to tell.

We are all story tellers. The enchanting thing about books is that it takes you into a whole other world. Did you ever feel that way especially with book series that have film adaptations? The way I saw the character in my mind was so different to what shows in film. Our imagination is incredible and the way we relate to each character is different. Reading makes me forget all the worries in the world. It’s a similar feeling to when you watch a film and get absorbed into the characters mind, except reading creates these characters in your mind. Books create new ideas, view of the future, perceptions, way of thinking and they also bring back certain memories and feelings from the past.
