Living in Sydney

When I moved to Sydney I felt so blessed being able to wake up to the sunshine and fall asleep to the beautiful skies. First thing you have to know before moving to Sydney, is that it’s one of the most expensive cities to live in the world. I remember applying for many jobs online while I was in Taiwan and New Zealand. However, now that I think back to the time where I spent so much time doing so, the best thing is actually to apply jobs while you are in Sydney. Walk into the stores and introduce yourself to the manager, send emails directly to the manager and be persistent. The downside is many retail stores only accept online applications but most stores will gladly accept your resume, plus you are able to give them a good impression of who you are.

The great part of working full time and studying part time, is the flexibility to study all weekend if you need to. Otherwise taking a little walk to the park to soak in the gentle sun or going to the beach to slow things down is lovely because Sydney is always alive and never really sleeps. I think some of the best things about living in Sydney that I can think of are: 50 shades of blue skies, warm fuzzy sun, beautiful friendly people, ferrero-chocolate gelato, dog loving neighbourhood, amazing street style, god’s love, cultural melting pot, creative world of creativity, shopaholic lane, no. 1 food stop, my happy place. I suppose the song ‘Missin’ You Like Crazy’ – Us the Duo, reminds me of when me and my partner were in a long distance relationship. Always make it work if that person in your life is worth it. Don’t give up because of the distance if you know they are the one you could spend the rest of your life with.

We can’t predict the footsteps of our lives. Somehow a different path may be walked on and life being unexpected is what makes it so exciting.

  1. Hi Katie!

First of all, congrats about your blog! I am brazilian and interested about studying at FBI. Could you help me with some questions about the school?

    Thanks and regards,

    1. Hi Barbara :) Thank you! The best thing would be to contact the school itself for any questions at (02) 9566 2020. Overall, my experience studying at FBI has been very positive :) I’ve really enjoyed the courses there <3
